Overwhelming Support for Kidsgrove Police Station Relocation |
|
The results from a recent poll on Whitehill Online show overwhelming support from the residents of Kidsgrove for the relocation of Kidsgrove Police to the Victoria Hall in Kidsgrove. These results are in stark contrast to the original poll which we ran in which the majority of Kidsgrove residents appeared to be against the proposals for Kidsgrove Police.
The main different in the results can ultimately be put down to fair and accurate coverage of the proposals. The initial poll was conducted when the plans were being talked about and used as political propaganda by the Kidsgrove Labour Party, which has been described as scaremongering by some local residents.
As a result of the actions of the Kidsgrove Labour Party, Staffordshire Police held a public meeting in Kidsgrove Town Hall, where they outlined current proposals and the cost savings that would be made from sharing the Kidsgrove Town Hall buildings, without impacting on the service that residents of Kidsgrove get from the Police. The meeting was marred once again by the actions of the Kidsgrove Labour Party who prevented Staffordshire Police from handing out a fact sheet presenting the facts regarding the relocation of the station.
Staffordshire Police and local inspector Martin Stevenson have worked hard to communicate with residents via this website and the print media such as Kidsgrove News and The Sentinel. As a result of knowing all the facts of the Kidsgrove Police Station proposals, it appears the Kidsgrove public overwhelmingly support the plans.

Motorists urged to stay safe and legal on Midlands motorways |
|
MOTORWAY POLICE in the Midlands are urging motorists to ensure their vehicles are safe and legal as they embark on journeys across some of the country's busiest routes this winter.
Officers will be conducting road checks across the area patrolled by the Central Motorway Policing Group to ensure that drivers are properly maintaining their vehicles. Sergeant Rob Leaver, from CMPG, said: "It is hugely important to make sure that all vehicles are safe and legal when getting behind the wheel. Ultimately this initiative is about preventing accidents and advising the public. "This is a time when we see a rise in vehicles with lighting defects, worn out windscreen wipers and tyre problems. "All of these issues are fairly cheap to rectify but could potentially result in very serious consequences in the wrong conditions on the motorway."
Alongside the routine patrols and investigations that conduct, our officers will be focusing on these vehicles that need attention, with the emphasis on enforcement through the vehicle defect scheme and, where appropriate, verbal advice." The central motorway network, which incorporates the M6, M5, M42, M54, M50 and the A38M, across West Midlands, Shopshire, Worcestershire, Staffordshire and up to Cheshire, is estimated to carry up to 200,000 vehicles per day. Sgt Leaver added: "As we enter the time of year when the weather takes a turn for the worse, it is more important than ever that motorists employ good standards of driving to suit the road conditions." |

Kidsgrove Christmas Victorian Market and Lights Switch On |
|
Kidsgrove Christmas lights will be switched on this year once again following the Victorian Market. The Victorian Market takes place at the Town Hall, Kidsgrove on Saturday 26th November and will be open from 10.00am until the Christmas Lights switch on by Town Mayor Kyle Robinson at 4pm. The Market is fully supported by Kidsgrove Town Council, Kidsgrove Victorian Market Committee, Rotary Club of Kidsgrove, Staffordshire Police, Staffordshire Fire & Rescue Service, Stanworth’s Fairground & Amusements, Tesco, St John Ambulance, Kidsgrove First Responders, etc.
The Christmas tree for the Victoria Hall, Kidsgrove has been provided this year by a local charitable family who wish to remain anonymous. The tree has been with the family for a number of years, having been given originally as a gift by a senior member of the family. Kidsgrove Rotarians and other volunteers transported the tree to the town hall by lorry and erected it in the main front garden area; later the Christmas tree lights were fitted ready for the Christmas Lights switch-on.
