LIVING ALONE
As the solitude of evening steals across the sky, I often think of people who live alone as I, Sometimes I shed a silent tear and then I wonder why? Surely there must be better things than to sit alone and cry.
I think of all of my problems where can the answers be? Surely not in shedding tears so I make a cup of tea, Then I look around my humble home and this is what I see, The comfort of a friendly hearth and sweet serenity.
It's then I start to realise how lucky I have been, I've had my share of love and joy, much beauty have I seen, So I thank God who gave me sight, just think what may have been, had I been born to darkness No sun, No moon that beams.
I thank him for my health and strength as I go to my bed, I thank him for the memories that go rushing through my head, I thank him for my family and for my daily bread, For all my friends both near and far as I go to my bed.
There's so much to be thankful for as we pass along life's way, And as dawn breaks fresh and new I'll face another day, My problems wont have disappeared or my troubles gone away, But I will just be thankful for yet another lovely day.
