OUR ANCESTORS

Folk today want to know

who were their ancestors years ago

Some cannot trace them

to find out who they really are

I tell of one we can all trace

He was one of noble race

His ancestor was a man of fame

And King David was his name

In the bible if you care to look

The answer is in the book of St Luke

He lived four thousand years ago

His descendant we  all know

In Bethlehem early one morn

Mary's baby son was born

Among the cattle  and sheaves of hay

Her baby child Jesus she did lay

two thousand and eight years ago

such a long long time ago

That this day 25th December

is the day we still remember

that is our Saviours Birthday

Now we call it Christmas day

To Whitehill Church we make our way

To sing carols also to pray

and give a gift we can afford

our offering to Jesus Christ our Lord

We hope this Church will always be

In Whitehill for all to see

and that God will care for you and me

and on this day OUR LORDS BIRTHDAY

and to one and all we wish to say
